This temple is 2000 years old Kothandaramar koil is located in west and inside the temple Ayothi ranganathar is situated in the south.the lord is in sleeping posture(pallikonda perumal) Opposite to the temple is pushkarani anjanayar temple .This place is called Dhandakaruniyam during ramanayana period.In this place Bharadwaja Maharishi was performing 'Dhapas' .After defeating ravana(Ravanavadham) Ramar performed pattapishegam to sri Vibishanar and then return to ayodhya.at that time he was returning to ayodhya in his vimanam .The vimanam stopped at this place.When Bharadwaj Munivar was performing Dhapas.Ramar has to come down from Indra vimanam and Namaskar and asked him why this vimanam has stopped Bharadwajar said due to his Dhapas he could not see ramar pattapishekam to be conducted at ayodhya.So he asked ramar to show the same with his crown in front of him .(pattabishekam) Ramar asked anjaneyar to give this information to Bharathar at ayodhya .Anjaneyar hesitated to go but ramar inisisted him to go .By the meantime patabishegam was over and the feast was almost completed.Anjaneyar was upset and angry and he sat in the kolakarai.Ramar gave his 50% of his food to anjaneyar to console him.All Bharathwaj Gothram people visit this temple and get the blessings of ramar and also contribute liberally to 2000 years old temple renovation.For further details please contact Mr.Srinivasa Bhattachariyar.sri Konthandaramar Tirukoil,Bharadwajar ashram .Mudikondan.609502.Mobile 9965923703.8098389233.
